After the end of the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki, a shipowner, Max Oberti ordered Baglietto shipyards to construct a hull of 5.5 meters denominated “TWIN VI” that would allow him to compete in the most prestigious sailing competitions around the world. In 1953, Mr. Oberti and his skipper, Carattino Antonio, onboard “TWIN VI” flew on the waters of Helsinki and brought back home the marvelous Italian cup. For years, this regatta was won by foreign competitors and it was finally time for an Italian crew to represent its nation and bring home the trophy. Mr. Carattino was gifted as a prize for his accomplishment this present Rolex reference 6036 with precisely engraved on the case back “HELSINKI 1953 TWIN VI”.
