Gerald Genta is always synonymous with audacity, innovation and often bold design, usually also combined with the use of less canonical material. Speaking about design, everybody has clearly in mind the Nautilus and Royal Oak. While regarding the materials, which have appeared in recent years at the auction, watches made in coral, titanium and more others. The present example presented in excellent overall condition strongly portrays Genta’s iconic design and aura through its octagonal-shaped case with heavy resemblance to the Royal Oak. The case is elegantly composed by yellow gold and mother-of-pearl that perfectly reflects the style of its era. Thanks to the skeletonized dial layout, one is able to witness the mechanical artistry which is proudly displayed through three subsidiary dials to determine the date, day, month and leap year as well as a delicate lapis lazuli moon phase positioned at 12 O’clock. This Royama, the name given to this particular model by Genta, is an extremely important and definitely collectable testimony of the one who is considered by many to be the greatest genius of watchmaking.
