Gucci is a Florentine brand founded in 1921 and is now renowned as one of the most important and desired fashion brands all over the world. After the war, the Gucci crest, which showed a shield and armored knight surrounded by a ribbon inscribed with the family name, became synonymous with the city of Florence. Under the direction of Aldo Gucci (son of Guccio), Gucci became a worldwide-known brand, an icon of the Italian Dolce Vita. Its main focus is, whatever related to style and that’s why in the 1950s/1960s it gave life to a series of watches with a unique design and material. The U.S. President John F. Kennedy called Aldo Gucci the “first Italian ambassador to the United States”. The lot here offered is one of these creations and according to their archives only a few pieces in silver and coromandel have been produced, every piece well finished by hand. This bracelet-watch dresses the wrist thanks to its four unusual piece composition of coromandel and silver that reminds the style of a belt. Very well preserved, this watch also presents a rectangular silver case with gilded dial embellished with Roman numbers and thin feuille hands all very nicely preserved.
