In 2002, the Euro currency was introduced to replace 12 national currencies, marking the complete establishment of the European Union. To celebrate this remarkable achievement, Tissot produced a limited line of Heritage Sovereign watches, each featuring coins of the 12 respective countries faithfully engraved on the case back. The lot offered here is a very fine example of the “Lira Edizione Commemorativa” (No. 0407/2002), produced exclusively for the Tissot boutique in Italy. Manufactured in solid and sporty stainless steel, the watch has been remarkably well-preserved, with the engravings on the back remaining crisp and deep. The most attractive part of the watch is undoubtedly its dial: it boasts a vintage-style layout with two-tone decoration, lacquered Roman numerals, feuille hands, an Arabic seconds track, and a date window at 3 o’clock. For those seeking a limited edition watch with a touch of vintage charm, this is the perfect opportunity.
