The Asymmetric is one of the most memorable and enigmatic watch models made by Cartier. Launched in 1936, its sloping shape was designed to make it easier to read the time while driving, without having to take your hands off the wheel and the sight from the road. This would also explain the very large and dark Arabic numerals positioned on the beautifully illuminated light silver dial with wave guilloché decoration and blued steel hands, a distinctive feature of Cartier’s classic wrist designs. This modern reissue created to pay homage to a model that has in any case marked the history of Cartier was produced in only 100 examples, of which the present lot is the number 005 as can be seen from the engraving on the case back which also presents the date 1996, being the year in which this new edition was presented. The two body platinum case is heavenly preserved and so is the guilloché silver "à rayons de soleil" dial with painted Arabic numerals and indexes. Further accessory of the present watch is the original red Cartier warranty and papers.
