One of the biggest watch brands in the world today, Cartier’s back catalogue isn’t as well-known as as one might think, and remains the preserve of a limited number of dedicated connoisseurs. The here offered specimen is a nice and gorgeous representative of the Tank Obus family, firstly introduced to the market in 1929 and object of desire for its scarce attainability. The 24 x 24 mm square case is something unusual especially for the ogival lugs, rarely seen on a Cartier watch. This very lot has an 18k yellow gold case with screw back, a cabochon sapphire-set crown and square bezel, finely preserved in all its components. The dial has the distinctive layout of Cartier with painted black radial roman numerals, inner minute track and blued steel Breguet hands.
