The Cartier Tank is one of the most iconic models not only for the French brand but also for the watchmaking history of the 20th Century. Here offered is a precursor specimen from the 1940’s of the modern interpretation of the Tank Divan released in 2005 and in production until circa 2010. The classical case of the Tank is rotated of 90 degrees positioning the long side of the rectangle in a position that could perfectly fit on a wrist. The yellow gold case of the present specimen with massive band and curved lugs is elegant and honestly preserved showing some signs of wearing. The dial is slightly atypical compared to the classical Cartier design with a white background, a thin splitter frame at the four angles of the case, arabic numerals and the signature “Cartier” and “France” written in the opposite way compared to the rest of the dial. Highly unusual and stylish for daily water, the present watch is a charming specimen of Cartier innovative desire.
