The Cortina is another Heuer creation of the ’70s which is sometimes a bit forgotten by the market nowadays but its style and design have a rurally particular charm. Let’s start from the name chosen: Heuer was keen to add a winter-sport model to its portfolio. The original Heuer Cortina emerged in 1977 and boasted several design features that distinguished it from other Heuer models of the day. The present watch is part of the reference 110 233 available in two models: one with an all-white dial (Ref. 110233) featuring black Roman numerals and the black-dial version that you see here (Ref. 110 233). The case design is a resounding success – unique and different from any other Heuer from the period. The present lot anyway is a true beauty with its stainless steel vase and the integrated steel bracelet, another design signature of the Cortina. The dial of the black Cortina combines the mid-late 1970s hour-marker design of Heuer with the earlier design hands, resulting in a clean look that is very much a Heuer and is perfectly untouched with very few signs of wearing.
