Usually, the indication for chronographic minutes in vintage watches – and in many modern ones as well – is found in a dedicated subsidiary counter. With reference 23 086, Longines adopts a very different layout, with a bold red chronographic minutes hand in the center, and additional railway minute divisions on the dial. The impressive stainless steel case of this watch is very well preserved and broke the patterns with the standard of the time in terms of dimensions given its 39.5 mm and presents numbered and engraved screw-down case back, concave lugs, stepped bezel and two round chronograph buttons in the band. The silvered dial has Arabic numerals, blue steel feuille hands, central blued steel hand for chronographic seconds, central red hand for chronographic minutes, outer five minute divisions and inner railway minute divisions, two sunken engine-turned subsidiary dials for constant seconds and 12 hours register. Accompanied by the Longines Extract from the Archives confirming case, movement, production and subsequent sale on 1 September 1947 to company Longines-Wittnauer Watch Co, which was at that time our agent for the USA.
