In 1976 Patek Philippe launched a new reference which replaced the similar and iconic 3745: that’s how the history of the Golden Ellipse reference 3845 began, with a rounded rectangular shape case made in yellow or white gold. Specifically, the references 3845/909, such as the present lot, are watches with dials made by Stern Frères with precious or semi-precious stones and mounted with various geometric patterns. The present lot has been realized in white gold with integrated bracelet. The round case is overall nice with snap on back and small crown to set the time. The dial is the representation of elegance and preciousness: quadripartite, it offers the alternation of segments in satin white gold and lapis lazuli. A thin line embellished with 20 brilliant cut diamonds transversely cuts the dial. With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with lapis lazuli and decorated white-gold dial with diamonds in 1977 and its subsequent sale on 13 November 1978.
