The philosophy “always in motion” that is the transcription from Esperanto of Movado remained within the brand for all its history, which was constantly innovating in terms of styles and designs. The massive and solid example here offered is the epitome of simplicity and beauty with its stainless steel case with concave lugs and snap on the back. The large 40 mm “non-magnetic” chrome plated and steel back case is unusual in size for such a watch from the late 1930s and most likely intended for military use, but considering its big dimensions can be totally contemporary even today. The black matte dial doesn’t leave space to further decoration: the most important thing was the legibility and the big radium numbers clearly allow that to the owner. At 6 o’clock the subsidiary dial for constant seconds, externally a closed track for minutes and at 12 the small signature moved. The pencil hands recall the numbers with their luminous material. Elegantly preserved in the course of these over 80 years, the present watch is a stunning example of elegance yet efficient timepiece.
