The very first model was launched in 1952 and the early edition to be sold was the reference 806. After 70 years Bretling produced a new watch in a limited series to 1962 pieces under the reference AB0210 like the present lot. The “Cosmonaut” was developed for Major Scott Carpenter, who participated in Project Mercury in 1962. This model is designed with a 24-hour display so that day and night will not be confused in space. This watch is a very rare example, now a highly collectible piece and in addition to the great and original conditions of the case fully made in stainless steel with its vertical round shaped the case is water-resistant thanks to its screw back. This large pilot’s wristwatch comes with a 60-minute graduated inner bezel, 24-hour black colour dial with luminous Arabic numerals, chronograph with multi-scales, 30-minute counter, 12-hour counter and date of the month.
