Breitling is a Swiss brand founded in Saint-Imier in 1884 by the engineer Leon Breitling. Nowadays it seems normal to see large watches, with diameters of 40 mm or more. Though, in the middle of the 20th century, fashion and style demanded smaller sized timepieces. It was in this scenario that Breitling, around the ’60s, decided to go against the current and began to produce large specimens, also considering the type of use to which these objects were destined. The production increased, leading the brand to also explore the field of useful tools for air navigation with the renowned Navitimer and numerous successes were obtained specifically with chronographs. The present chronograph offers fantastic value to the discerning collector, as it is a rare find among vintage Breitling wristwatches. One of the most legendary models among the aviator watches is certainly the Breitling Navitimer. The very first model was launched in 1952 and the early edition to be sold was the reference 806, like the present watch. The great and original conditions of the case, with a really nice subsidiary dial, luminous baton and Arabic 12 numerals, luminous hands and the twinjet logo stands out perfectly on the black background dial. Depending on the condition and the edition of these specimens are now highly collectible pieces and this specific watch can easily be inserted among them.
