The Girard-Perregaux reference 4980, known as the WW.TC (Worldwide Time Control) World Time Chronograph, is a distinguished timepiece introduced in 2000. Drawing from the brand’s Classique Elegance lineage, Luigi Macaluso, president of Girard-Perregaux and former motor racing driver, infused his vision with his passion for horology and motorsports to create a 43 mm world time wristwatch with an added chronograph mechanism. The WW.TC is equipped with two opposite crowns that control the inner rotating rings of city names and 24-hour time zones. The lot offered here is part of a highly limited and exclusive edition, with only 10 pieces available in this special configuration. This example is number 2, as indicated by the Roman numeral engraving on the back. Manufactured in light and versatile titanium, this particular model also features a matching titanium bracelet. Despite the excellent condition of both the case and bracelet, a particularly attractive feature of this limited edition is its unusual light blue color. The dial is embellished with black and white accents for various details, including the names of 24 cities with their respective time zones, the 24-hour indication with day and night demarcation, the date and the three subsidiary dials for the chronograph. Offered in excellent condition, this is a fantastic opportunity to own a limited edition that embodies Girard-Perregaux’s vision of a world time chronograph, merging functionality with distinctive design.
