The legendary Heuer Monaco was first released in 1969, making an immediate impact in the industry as the first self-winding chronograph and the first one to feature an iconic square-shaped case. The Monaco was discontinued in 1975 but later revived by TAG Heuer, following the acquisition of Heuer by TAG (Techniques d’Avant-Garde) in the 1980s. In a move to honor its rich history, TAG Heuer embraced the Monaco models and relaunched them with re-editions. The first series of re-editions was launched 30 years after the initial introduction of the Monaco. One of the most notable of these is the minimalistic black dial version, referenced as CS2110, which is considered among the rarest of all Monaco re-editions. Limited to 5 000 pieces, the present example is numbered 1364 and is in attractive overall condition. The stainless steel case is well preserved, with clear engravings on the back. The black dial stands out with its deep color, simple counters for constant seconds and minute registration at 3 and 9 o’clock, with a date window located at 6 o’clock. Enhancing its historical and collectible significance, this watch a token of appreciation from legendary driver Michael Schumacher presented as a gift to Mr. Rocco Benetton, the renowned Italian entrepreneur and former CEO of the championship-winning Benetton Formula One Team. The watch comes with its original presentation box, booklets, letter and signed pictures of Mr. Benetton, further enhancing its desirability among collectors.
