The Rolex reference 4500, produced between 1946 and 1947, stands as a remarkable piece in the brand’s illustrious history. This model introduced a groundbreaking case design with straighter and more pointed lugs, laying the foundation for many subsequent Rolex models. Offered in yellow gold, pink-gold, stainless steel, and stainless steel with gold, the reference 4500 is one of the few Oyster chronograph models produced by Rolex that features only a 30-minute counter, forgoing the 12-hour counter. Significantly, it also represents the first waterproof Oyster chronograph made by the brand. The reference 4500 was available with various dial options. The most common featured silver or white dials with contrasting gold indexes, though black and salmon dials remain the most coveted. The example presented here is one of the most attractive to surface the market in recent years. The stainless steel case is preserved in exceptional condition. The dial is truly extraordinary, notable for its stunning preservation, beauty, and the luminosity of its “salmon” pink color. It is adorned with double scales: an inner telemeter scale and an outer tachymeter one, both in vivid black. Incredibly rare and preserved in exceptional condition, this watch is a masterpiece for any vintage chronograph lover and a milestone in Rolex’s production.
