Bamford Watch Department has long been synonymous with bold, avant-garde customization of luxury timepieces, and its collaboration with Asprey —one of Britain’s most prestigious jewelers— has resulted in a striking and highly limited series of customized Rolex watches. This exclusive partnership saw the transformation of iconic Rolex models, including the Submariner, Milgauss, Daytona, and Sea-Dweller Deepsea, with Bamford’s signature black PVD coating and a striking purple color scheme, a hallmark shade of Asprey. The present example, a Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea reference 116 660, is numbered 1 of just 25 pieces, making it one of the rarest iterations of this legendary deep-diving timepiece but it hides a further unicity. Indeed, on the dial, right beside the index at 9 o’clock, are located the initials FH, made as a unique piece for Mr. Fawaz Al-Hasawi, a Kuwaiti businessman and former owner of Nottingham Forest F C. A loyal client of the brand, Mr. Al-Hasawi has previously requested one-of-a-kind pieces, tailored to his personal preferences in color and stone selection. The robust 44 mm case, complete with a screw-down crown, helium escape valve, and unidirectional rotating bezel, remains in incredible conditions, showcasing the distinctive black PVD finish that lends it a stealth-like presence. The contrast between the deep purple dial and the luminescent white text, with the “Asprey” signature proudly positioned beneath the hands, reinforces its unique identity. When the collaboration was launched, George Bamford himself remarked, “I am extremely proud to unveil these remarkable new designs,” a sentiment that is clearly reflected in the daring yet refined execution of this model. Accompanied by a confirmation letter from Asprey confirming its customization, this Sea-Dweller Deepsea is a true collector’s piece, merging Rolex’s legendary technical prowess with the bespoke artistry of Bamford and Asprey.
