Unveiled at SIHH in 2016, Sherman emerged as the result of an inspired partnership between MB&F and the esteemed L’Epée 1839. This whimsical yet playful creation takes shape through a construction of watch components, where movement plates and bridges serve as both its structural foundation and aesthetic framework. Anchoring the design is an 8-day mainspring barrel, which extends downward to support its distinctive rubber-lined caterpillar tracks, lending an almost animated presence to the piece. Crowning this mechanical marvel, a domed glass head offers a glimpse into its “brain,” where the delicate interplay of the regulator and balance wheel mirrors the heartbeat of a traditional timepiece. While the unmistakable creativity behind Sherman belongs to MB&F, its intricate mechanical engineering is a testament to L’Epée 1839’s storied expertise. Sherman embodies early television depictions of robots—playful, mechanical, yet full of character. With articulated arms ending in claw-like hands and a rubber-tracked base for movement, he feels like a charming relic of a bygone era’s vision of the future. Crafted in silver, the example offered here is part of the very limited edition of only 18 pieces named Bad Sherman. Bad Sherman comes with a dapper removable hat for doffing to the ladies, a pair of sunglasses so you can’t see what he’s thinking while he plays high-stakes poker in Monte Carlo, and a handgun that doubles as the clock winder. This playful and captivating Bad Sherman is further accompanied by its fitted presentation box and guarantee
