Conceived by Louis Cartier, the Tank reflects a seamless fusion of form and function, capturing attention with its clean lines, bold geometric design, and a revolutionary departure from the round watches prevalent in its era. Throughout its rich history, Cartier has showcased its mastery in using various precious materials in timepieces, including the esteemed yellow gold, a metal known for its classic appeal and timeless elegance. Yellow gold’s warm and rich appearance makes it an ideal choice for crafting high-end luxury watches. The lot here offered combines these two exceptional qualities: the timeless Tank design and the use of noble yellow gold. Crafted in the 1990s, this watch is fitted with the Cartier manual-winding caliber based on the famous Piguet 21. This example is also equipped with a very rare and fancy yellow-gold bracelet of the period that confers the whole watch a bigger presence on the wrist. The white dial has the classical Cartier Tank layout with painted black radial Roman numbers, concentric minute track and blued steel hands.
