Originally focused on the development and manufacturing of movements, Piaget began making watches under its own name in 1943, about 70 years after its foundation in Côte-aux-Fées by the will of Georges Edouard Piaget in 1874. They immediately centralized their efforts and ideas in the creation of very thin watches, setting new records as the world’s thinnest simple or complicated watches, with special features like visible dials and engine, also known as skeletonized watches, developing the spirit of luxury in an atmosphere of creativity, attention to detail, and fully integrated expertise that would have characterized them forever. The present 18k white-gold watch is a real special piece, first of all, thanks to its particular and really unusual dual time-zone complications which equips it. The dial offers a magnificent engine-turned guillochè decoration where, inside, are positioned the two different quadrant for two different timing: to make them better recognizable, one was made in silver and the other in black but in both cases the numbers painted above are with the unmistakable Breguet style. The bezel with pyramidal motifs sees at 3 and 9 o’clock the two thin crowns to set the times. The prestigious Asprey signature is also present on the dial: located since 1847 at 167 New Bond Street in London, the Asprey name has become particularly synonymous with watches supplied to Middle Eastern royalty by Rolex, Patek Philippe and Piaget. This watch is one of the few known in this very good condition and with this special signature in addition to being an object of undoubted aesthetic value.
