This Swiss luxury brand Eterna was founded in 1856 and is known for its innovative designs and mechanical complications. The name Eterna represents timepieces made of the highest quality and that is demonstrated by the launch on the market in 1908 of the first and revolutionary wristwatch with alarm function ever produced. At the beginning of its life, this company was specialized in the creation of lady’s watches made from small pocket watches. In 1905 then changed its name to Eterna, as we all know, it by now. With the name changed also the field of specialization, and became very renowned by having co-founded the ETA movement. Later shortly Eterna manage to earn its place for being one of the best examples of how to produce the greatest number of chronometers. This attractive and large chronograph in stainless steel offered in this auction perfectly exemplifies and embodies the dictates that have always been the basis of Eterna. The two-pieces case is securely fastened by four screws drilled into the underside of each lug, protecting the movement from exposure to humidity and water and the two big pushers allow easy use of the chronograph. The very charming silvered dial has two scales, the telemeter in red and the tachometer one in blue, while the radium arabic numerals give a further touch of color thanks to their aging patina and the huge subsidiary dials for constant seconds and 30 minutes registration intersect theirself with the scales creating a fascinating design.
