Founded in the Swiss town of Le Locle in 1853 by father and son Charles-Félicien and Charles-Émile Tissot, the eponymous Tissot brand has long been synonymous with well-crafted timepieces and distinct design flair. Notably, Tissot made horological history by introducing the mass-produced Antimagnetique watch in 1930, pioneering basic protection against magnetic fields. This innovation sparked a trend, prompting other companies to develop their own magnetic-resistant timepieces. The Antimagnetique line remained in production until the mid-1950s, offering a plethora of variations in movements, dials, case materials, and sizes. Among these variations, the Antimagnetique model presented here is a standout example. With its 37mm stainless steel case, this timepiece is exceptionally preserved, featuring a snap-on back and a reeded winding crown. The dial exhibits a captivating two-tone design, with a central cream hue surrounded by a grey outer ring adorned with cream Arabic numerals and minute markers. Additionally, the dial includes an engine-turned subsidiary seconds sub-dial at 6 o'clock, complemented by elegant pencil hands. This Antimagnetique timepiece not only embodies Tissot's commitment to quality craftsmanship but also showcases the brand's innovative spirit and enduring legacy in watchmaking.
