The Zenith Respirator “JFK” was produced during the 1960s for about ten years. The patent for the case, designed and produced by Ervin Piquerez, dates back to the early 1960s. The name 'JFK' is derived from the former president of the United States, John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Although there are no known images of JFK wearing a Zenith watch, it is well known that he owned one, along with other shaped watches, which he seemed to favor. Zenith claims to have direct evidence of this and displays a specimen attributed to Kennedy in its museum. The watch offered here is a very well-preserved steel example with a snap-on case back and clearly visible serial numbers. The dial is exceptionally attractive, featuring a black background, applied baton hour markers, a fine sectorial decoration, and a date window between 4 and 5 o'clock. Rare and elegant, this Respirator is a highly desirable object for enthusiasts.
