It is hard to qualify the many ways in which the Nautilus has changed the horological world. Anyway, some models have managed to succeed more than other among collectors for their for their distinctiveness and design. That is the case of this awesome Patek Philippe ref. 3700/4 in yellow gold with diamond-set, probably one of the rarest vintage Nautilus models of all. Entirely case in yellow gold and preserved in remarkable conditions, this watch displays a thin row of diamonds around the edge of the bezel. Nautilus with diamond rows on top of the bezel are well known in the market and already widely appreciated, but examples with this particular decoration of a thin row of diamonds on the side are extremely rare and less than 5 are currently known, making this lot one of the rarest ever produced. Made with maniacal care and attention typical of Patek’s manufacture, this charming and highly distinctive detail adds to the complexity and elegance of this very seldom-seen timepiece.
