We are here in the presence of a very rare and unusual Patek Philippe reference 2540: in production between 1954 and 1960 is one of the earliest references to house the manufacture’s very first self-winding calibre, the 12-600 AT. This model impresses by its clear but very soft lines, most evident by the perfectly integrated crystal made specifically for this reference. The square shape of 32 × 32 mm case with snap on back has been realized in yellow gold, also fascinate the particular baton indexes that matches with its baton hands, applied inside a very clean silver dial with seconds at 6 o’clock. In the simplicity, the details make the difference and this watch is certainly the demonstration and represents the almost unique possibility of buying an absolutely exceptional watch. Moreover, the watch is offered with its original certificate of origin and by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in yellow gold in 1956 and its subsequent sale on 12 July 1957.
