Since its introduction in 1972, the Royal Oak has seen a succession of numerous re-editions which, in some ways, have also distorted its simple and linear design with which it was conceived by Gerald Genta. The resignation has in fact been changed and its thickness has likewise undergone enormous variations going to meet the tastes of the customers who invoked aloud a more massive specimen. Audemars Piguet has always been in the forefront when it comes to using materials like the present lot fully made in Titanium. The bicolor black and anthracite "Clous de Paris" decoration with luminous Arabic numerals on a black reserve, subsidiary guilloché black dials for the seconds, the 12-hour and 30-minute registers, aperture for the date between 4 and 5 is compleated by its white luminous "baton" hands. This titanium chronograph was produced as a limited edition of 50 pieces for the Audemars Boutique in Paris with an extremely rare bracelet made in full titanium. The back of the case is embossed with a depiction of the Audemars Piguet factory in Le Brassus and “Audemars Piguet La Boutique Special Edition” engraved around the border. Sold in mint conditions, this very watch comes with its box and extract from the archives.
