LiteratureThis specific watch is published in Pucci Papaleo’s Book "Ultimate Rolex Daytona" at page 86

Produced from the late 1960s to the late 1980s, the Rolex reference 6263, with its acrylic bezel, represents the ultimate refinement of the manually wound Daytona. Showcasing all the signature design elements that define the model, it also introduced upgraded screw-down pushers for enhanced functionality. While the “Big Red” variant is among the most recognized, earlier versions, like the present example, were distinguished by the absence of red text on the dial. The present reference 6263 boasts a mesmerizing dial that has gracefully aged into a deep, warm chestnut hue, earning the coveted “tropical” designation. The unpredictable nature of tropical dials makes each one unique. This particular example with its chocolate tone subtly darkens in certain areas, creating a captivating “dégradé” effect. Adding to its allure and exceptional rarity, the dial showcases the famed Tiffany & Co. signature. The brand unquestionably holds a unique and storied connection with Rolex, unlike most other retailers, and has prominently stamped its signature name on an array of Rolex models, spanning from the iconic GMT-Master to the legendary Cosmograph Daytona. Furthermore, the luminous hour markers remain intact, having also acquired a charming caramel hue. The case, in remarkably excellent condition, showcases defined edges and lugs that speak to its exceptional overall state of preservation. A timepiece of exceptional rarity and historical significance, it is certainly a must-have for the collector of truly rare timepieces.
